I've been following YugaTech blog for years now. One of the reasons why I still follow him is that he 'outs' the latest in the world local tech---handset availability, network promos and whatnot.

Latest news is about Smart's Always ON service. It seems that the number of mobile internet users have spiked over the years which probably prompted the network to offer such an irresistible service.

It's a new year, so what's new aside from the date?

I guess a new project isn't bad.

Office looks the same (except for the disappearance of our Christmas tree).

Temperature is still morbidly cold.

Well, I got a new haircut, which isn't really new. I'm practically bald my entire stay in VeriFone. It was only last year, 2010, that I decided to grow (and even color) my hair. Yes people, I grew my hair last year.

Weight gain. Dammit. I became too relaxed (and lazy) last year! Ironic. The thing is, I got featured on Men's Health (September issue) at the time when I was already gaining weight. I guess, physically, 2009 was my best year. Good thing is, I still have a chance to reboot that enthusiasm this year (or the next).

I'm still suck at frequent blogging. I'll try to blog more.

This blog sucks.

Why I love my Samsung Galaxy S...

Yes, it has been that long. To you my faithful readers, yes, the two of you, I'm so sorry for abandoning you like that. As you know, like everyone, I too have a life to live and mouths to feed.

Whatever.

So in case your still wondering what gave me the urge or inspiration to blog again, well, it's because I am compelled to share my answer to the question asked: "Why did you choose that phone over the iPhone 4?" And it's many other derivatives like, "Is it better than the iPhone 4?", or "Is that the 'so-called' iPhone killer?" or worse, "Maganda ba talaga?"

Don't get me wrong. Apple products are beautiful things. They are sexy. They supposedly last long (my 3rd generation iPod is already an essential source of my mp3s in the car). And finally, Apple products are god-damn expensive.

I just don't think the iPhone is for me... yet.

So, why the Galaxy S?

Here's some of them:

Android Market is a good source of applications. Mostly free. In fact, the only apps that I could access are free because the paid apps don't show up on our local Market. Well, not yet. I know the App Store has so much more applications, but hey! I probably only need 200 or 300 apps on my phone (*sarcasm alert*). Yeah, I think 300 is my limit. (*sarcasm alert again*). I currently have less than 100 apps on my SGS. I don't need anything more than what I have now. I don't have any reason to download more. At least, not yet.

4 inches of Super AMOLED versus 3.5 inches of Retina display. Oh please! Don't give me that crap about iPhone 4 having a much denser resolution because I most likely won't be able to recognize that. I wear glasses for a reason. I have astigmatism and that's like seeing a single line in doubles! There is such as thing as "size matters".

Swype. I twit-ed, facebook-ed, plurk-ed, and tumblr-ed my love for Swype. But I think iPhone's getting it. Although, I'm not sure.

REAL Video calling. Not just a video call over WiFi with another Facetime-capable user. True Video calling with another 3G-capable phone. I really use this feature when I want to call/see my son. That's why I made sure my family use video-capable handsets.

microUSB is such a standard connection type, yes? And you know what? My Galaxy S charges on the USB. I was even able to use my Nokia N82's microUSB cable.

FM Radio. I love Monster RX 93.1 and Magic 89.9

Support for multiple video formats and containers without the need for conversion. I can even play 720p mkv files/movies

Full Flash support. 'nuff said.

microSD card support. That's up to 32GB additional space for my vids, photos, or whatever-I-fucking-want.

Capable of being a mass storage device when connected to a PC. Oh wait, did I mention microUSB?

Bluetooth file transfers

Power of the (Google) cloud (Google services) fully integrated to the phone. I now keep my contacts or better yet, my Gmail contacts on my phone. So, I don't lose any information about any contact, whether I'm on my phone or on the desktop. I just sync them whenever I need to. That's contacts, calendar, and even docs!

TONS of customization options, so my phone won't look like any of my other SGS-brothers and sisters out there!

1500 mAh battery that allows me to last at least day with moderate use

I could go on for other "trivial" stuff, but I'd better stop. It's already late! I have to sleep 'coz tomorrow my car is banned from the streets between 7am to 7pm! Arggg!

So, why Galaxy S? It's just a cool phone. I really really love it! Remember how I expressed my lust for it months ago? I really really love it! Well, at least, until the next best thing is released! (Uhm... Nexus S?)

Finally I've been featured in a magazine! Ha-ha-ha! Yeah, I got the chance to be featured in the mag.

I used to tell myself that someday I'll get featured in a mag but I never thought that would even be possible! I know it's crazy but it just happened!

Funny thing was that it happened when I wasn't even really prepared for it! Ha-ha-ha!

So I was browsing through my social sites, checking out the updates and all. I noticed one of my friends post. A picture of the cast of the upcoming Avengers movie. I recalled one of the guys there who is going to play Thor in an upcoming movie of the same name. He's name is Chris Hemsworth.

A couple of weeks ago, I heard someone who made a dismal remark that Chris didn't look the part of Thor. I didn't answer back for I believed he'd be perfect for the part. He's a big guy (he's towering around 6'3") and some shots of him taken months ago, it seems he's prepping up for the part.

Then I saw this picture. Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn! Huuuuuuuuuuuuge armmmmmmmmmsss!!!

Now, who's to say he don't fit the part?

I've never been an Apple fan. Apart from the fact that their products are so expensive, I think it's also because I believe other brands/products are better, if not, more practical than Apple's.

Sure, everybody has a piece to share about the latest boo-boo of Apple. But I believe it's just wrong to involve other companies with it's own faults. Indeed, Apple decided to use their design and implemented that design, it wouldn't be fair to drag other names into the picture.

Now these companies have to defend themselves, and I guess they have every right to do that.

I absolutely love my Galaxy S. It shoots nice pictures (5mp) and great videos (720p at 30fps). But then I saw this ad from Nokia. They're boasting their soon-to-be-released N8. Could you believe this was shot entirely using the N8?

Yes people. It's official. Facebook is blocked in our office.

The signs were there. It started small: a web access control mechanism was introduced. The mechanism started blocking out sites that weren't work-related. Then facebook games were blocked. And now this.

Can't blame the company tho. Some people do nothing but post comments on FB. Some others use it differently, like, for example, they check out profile pictures of "hot chicks". And still, there are others who seem to be uncaring about the FB world but actually are lurkers.

Well, it's all gone now. I bet, people here now will be forced to do other things, like REAL work.

It sucks, yeah. But I guess a little part of me is glad. Why? Because that would mean I will have to go back to becoming active with my Multiply account! Yes!

Oh, I've yet to post pictures of Carlos' June 2010 pictures! I wasn't able to do that a couple of weeks back because I was busy with other things. More of that on my succeeding posts.

Oh well, it was good when it lasted. Good bye Facebook. Well, at least while I'm in the office. How about you guys? Does your company allow you to access Facebook?

I have nothing against celebrities lalo na yung mga matitino. But not many people share this perspective about them.

For example, someone said there might be other people who "deserve" it, why not give it to them? Well, question is, how do you gauge if a person "deserves" a government position. To me, it should be a question of who is more capable of performing the desired function.

It shouldn't really matter if the person is a well-known. What matters is how they'd perform when they're already in that position.

Battle of the Samsung Brands

I know.. I know.. I have been talking about Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Wave for the last few posts. I just couldn't make up my mind.

The reviews for each of them are really good.

The similarities?

Both are manufactured by the same company, Samsung.

Both sport a Super AMOLED screen (yeah, suck on that Apple).

Both use the 1Ghz Hummingbird processor.

Both can play/record 720p movies.

Both are 5 megapixers. (Yeah, I think I just invented that word. LOL.)

The differences?

Galaxy S has a 4" screen. Wave has a 3.3" screen.

Android versus Bada. Galaxy S will eventually be upgraded very very soon to FroYo which is said to bump up the performance of Android devices. Wave is running the still-infant Bada, so I doubt there'll be any upgrades on that device.

MKV support. I read that the Wave can play 720p mkv files. That'll mean I can play any file I want from my media library on the Wave, but I'm not sure about the Galaxy S though.

Question is...

Remember how "ecstatic" I was when I learned that the Samsung Galaxy S is going to have 512MB of RAM?

Well, I heard news that definitely pushed me to the edge!

I'm now 98% decided that I'm going to get this on my birthday! Samsung have confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S will be upgraded to Android 2.2, or also known as FroYo, later this year.

Of course, other droids already got their upgrades (Nexus One, of course), but that's because these phones run the vanilla Android. Samsung have to update their customizations, so you can understand this will take time.

LCD TV vs Plasma TV Which is Best?

It's a never-ending debate. However, it seems that more and more people are buying LCD TVs instead of Plasma.

Longevity of our Plasma TV? I'm not worried about that. It took me less than 30,000 hours to replace my CRT TV and that's based on "watching" TV for 8 hours a day for 10 years. It's just not possible for me to watch more than a 4~5 of hours per day.

Guys, apart from the cologne or perfumes, chemicals can also be found in other hygiene products like shampoos and conditioners. Buti na lang my wife and I are now using organic products. We've been veering away from commercially sold products, thanks to my sister who introduced the organic alternatives to us and who's been using these for quite some time.

I bet, next time my wife tries to smell me and notices I'm not wearing any perfume, she'd appreciate it more. It's going to be me she's smelling: my natural scent.

For the past few days, I have been questioning myself about who I would vote. I have never been sure about Noynoy, and I've always thought Mar is a good candidate for Vice.

Fortunately (or unfortunately), Mar's ads on TV were working AGAINST him. For some really weird reason, I felt I was more and more being alienated with him. I thought the ads were "too dramatic", or "too scripted" for my taste. It didn't come over as a sincere depiction of who he really is.

God! I sound like Simon Cowell on American Idol.

It gets even worse for Noynoy. I'm really sorry for his supporters, but I just couldn't shake the feeling. He also doesn't look sincere. To me, it seems that he has ulterior motives. He always seemed to avoid the media. It seems he doesn't want to participate in debates, but I may be mistaken.

Thailand's Divisoria

It was Day 3 of our stay here in Bangkok. Time was 10:24 am when we got off the train on our way to Chatuchak market to buy whatever. The market was like an over-sized Divisoria. It is really big BUT it wasn't dirty. There weren't any trash on the floor! Come to think of it, I haven't seen any cigarette butts anywhere.

Because my wife is always confused whether to buy or not, in the end, she bought nothing. Good thing I'm a bit compulsive so I was able to buy two things: a leather belt and a pair of sun-glasses. After a couple of hours of walking about the market, my wife decided to buy some omiyage (pasalubong).

It was exhausting, but there were a lot of stuff to see. I didn't want to buy some clothes because I thought I could buy clothes in the Philippines. I still think it was a good thing I didn't buy clothes. When I get home, I'll visit Landmark or Trinoma and visit the Bazaar section. I love buying shirts there (which are fashionable and cheap)!

Bangkok trip is nearing it's end. I wonder what's for tomorrow.

Preping up to visit the temples

Breakfast was nice, we had sausage, bread, bacon, and eggs.

Everybody is preparing now. We are leaving at around 9:30am to see the Temples.

Looks like it's going to rain but Cel and I are prepared. We're both excited. ;-)

7:04pm. Leaving MBK shopping mall. Earlier I was told that the mall is similar to our Greenhills. It is, but way much bigger!!! My eyes feasted on clothes, gadgets, food, well you name it, they probably have it!!

Wifey and I bought some food items as pasalubong.

Well, it's time to go home now. I'm not sure yet but wifey and I might take a dip in the pool later tonight.

Visiting Jim Thompson museum

It's 4:29 pm. Just done visiting Jim Thompson museum. It was a very interesting tour. We learned a lot about Thai culture. We are now going to MBK. It is a mall much like our very own Greenhills shopping center (but much better, I suppose).

We haven't eaten our lunch yet. My wife jokingly said that we were going to lose weight while we are in Thailand. I suppose she's right.

We are almost there! So excited to eat and do some shopping!!!

The Reclining Buddha

It's 2:05 pm. I am hungry. We haven't eaten anything since this morning.

We just finished visiting the reclining Buddha. All I can say is that it's BIG. It's fascinating to see such a big golden structure. What's even more fascinating is how my friend was able to take great pictures of us with the Buddha. Honestly, it was difficult to find a spot to take good pictures with the Buddha because it was so big.

Now we are on our way to Jim Thompson museum. Frankly, I don't know who he is until now. I was told he is the person responsible for making the Thai Silk industry world renown.

Anyways, at this point, all I'm thinking about is food. My friends told me we are going to have our lunch there. I hope the food is great!

Touring Thailand

It's 12:53pm. Day 2 here in Bangkok. We are here visiting one of the world's famous tourist spots here, the Grand Palace! I must say, the details of the structures are really intricate! It's just amazing!

I am having a good time taking pictures of Cel. I will try to upload our pictures ASAP when we get home.

It's a good thing that it wasn't very hot today. In fact we were kinda lucky because the clouds were thick. However it is very humid. After a while it rained but wifey and I were prepared. We brought umbrellas!!! Even before we came to Thailand, I already knew that it was going to rain. Thanks to my smartphone, I got the weather forecasts days before we left Pinas.

Ok, it is time to walk again. We haven't finished our tour yet.

It's 7:25 in the morning. Dennis just cooked some sausages and now I have taken over the kitchen. Cooking some bacon for the group while wifey is preping up the dining table. Later she going to cook fried eggs for everybody.

Sawasdee. That's the first word I ever learned in Thai. It means "hello". So, it has been day 1. If you're wondering how on earth was I able to blog/write about that HERE in Bangkok, well, I'll tell you in a few.

As you already know, I have been updating my facebook status. More about that later, but first, let me tell you that I brought my 3 phones here. My Omnia, my N82, and my other Nokia phone (I couldn't remember what model it is).

My Omnia has a lot of connectivity options: Wifi, HSPDA, GPRS and even getting online when connected to a PC that is connected to the internet. My N82 also has the same stuff (except the latter), and my other phone is only 2G.

So, imagine how ecstatic I was to learn that my friend's place (technically not his place but his sister's) has WIFI! Wow! I felt bad that I actually froze my plurk account (thinking I couldn't update my plurk, but that's ok. I already lost 0.5 karma). You can figure it out now, huh? Yes, I update my facebook through WiFi!

Ok, now more about our trip. How did the day went?

So here I am sitting on seat number 32D with my wife beside me anxiously waiting for our arrival in Bangkok international airport. It is 12:29 pm local time in Thailand. Yes, it is 1hr behind Philippine time.

The 1st officer just called in. We are approaching the airport and ready to land. How exciting!!!

It's 2:41pm local time here in Thailand. we're waiting for our turn in Immigration. I just texted my mom that Cel and I have arrived. oh, and I used my prepaid to do that coz as you know I wasn't able to enable my roaming on my postpaid. bummer. I checked to make sure and indeed my postpaid line didn't have a signal.

Darn we're still in the queue. some of our friends are nearly done. bummer again. but that's ok. Wifey and I will still enjoy our time here in Thailand! ;-)

Earlier today, I was (somehow) asked how come I have trimmed down and why I worry about cholesterol and all that, despite that I was relatively "young". I wasn't prepared to answer the question because I never really thought somebody would care to ask me about it. Basically, all I really wanted to do is to improve my health and hopefully live a long full life, free from all the health problems that I might get in the future. I mean, seriously, have you noticed that the number of people suffering from some sort of disease have been increasing?

It's been a couple of days and I haven't written anything on my blog. I was sure I was going to write about how happy I was to discover Ovi Maps but when days passed by, it didn't sound that great anymore.

Work hasn't been very interesting either. Oh, I just recalled the number of times I've posted rants about my current project!

Definitely, I would NOT be sharing anything about my sex life either. Lest I'd be reunited exclusively with my ex's.

I haven't been very active with my fitness routines. WHAT'S GOING ON?!

Well, I really don't know. But as I told some of my friends, I'm working to get my groove back on. It's always a little difficult to start over again, but as I told one friend, the most important thing is not giving up.

I'll try to post more often as I were before. I'll try to be more enthusiastic next time! ;-)

It's been yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaars since I last got a good haircut. If I remember right, I was working with my previous employer pa. I got a bleached blond cropped hair! Unfortunately, I didn't have a picture then. At the time, hindi pa uso yung camera phone.

Since I got curly unruly hair, I researched what kind of hair style will suit me. Tanggap ko na. I can only sport short hair styles (pwede din naman long but if that will happen, kailangang magpahaba pa ako ng buhok).

There were a couple of times when I seriously got hooked with reading. The last time was with the Harry Potter series. I loved it because it took me to another place. The feeling was just priceless. I wonder, is that what book-lovers experience? Anyways, I don't consider myself a bookworm. Not really.

Then I came across a book that turned out to be part of a trilogy (at the time), it's called Eragon, book 1 of the Inheritance Trilogy (now called Inheritance Cycle). After that, I bought the second book, Elder. Mid-through the second book, I heard that the series will cease to be a trilogy and a fourth book is going to be introduced. That kind of bummed me out but I still planned to get the 3rd book, Brisingr. Then it became official, a fourth book is on the works and the Inheritance Trilogy became the Inheritance Cycle.

I'm now on page 54 of Brisingr. I hope the story gets better.

Unlike me, my sister likes reading books. It was because of her that I learned about Harry Potter. I'm really grateful she turned out to be a Harry Potter fan because all I had to do was wait for her to finish reading the latest book then it's my turn! Ha-ha-ha! You'd probably suppose I'm a user in this case, but I'm telling you I'm really not. I really like the HP books but I'm not a die-hard fan.

Then about 2 weeks ago, she told me that she's reading a new series. It started as a small favor: she asked me to buy her the 3rd book of the series whenever I get a chance to drop by a bookstore. She said it's always "out-of-stock" in the bookstores she'd gone so she wanted to increase her chances to get one by asking me to help her out.

Luckily, I was able to get one! And as a special prize, she let me the books she had already read including that one she asked me to buy! Turns out, she already read the first 3 books and she was just waiting for paperback copies to be released.

The books? It's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians". It was quite interesting indeed. Finished all 4 and now I'm waiting for the paperback release of the 5th (and last) installment. What's even better is that my wife started to read the books and enjoyed it herself. As far as I know, she has started reading the 4th book.

I know, I know. These are like children's books but it doesn't matter. I enjoy reading them and will continue reading such books. To each his own.

It's 9:48 am on a Tuesday morning. I planning to leave later after lunch or so to do some cardio. God! I've forgotten the last time I went to do cardio!? I've noticed that my metabolism slowed down. Darn! The holiday season really f*cked up my lifestyle, but I know that I shouldn't really blame the holidays. It's just doubly hard to keep up a lifestyle that you try to get used to, right? I mean, everybody was chowing down delicious food, everybody wanted to sleep, drink, be merry. Did I mention binging on food? Yeah?! Indulgent eating! How can you compete with that?! Ha-ha-ha!

Well, I digress...

It just occurred to me that I have to fix 2 open defects on my current project! And after I successfully do that, I've to start yet again with a whole new batch of defects starting tomorrow! Sheesh! What a way to start the mid-week, 'ey?

By the way, I've yet to post another blog about reading. Check that out later.... much later. Now I begin to wonder, when would I be able to squeeze the time to put that in here? Hmmm...

Oh well.. c'est la vie! That is life. Oh! Oh! That's another thing! I've yet to continue my self-study of French. Don't ask me why.

Darn, it's nearly 10am. I've to go and check out these defects. Wish me luck!

I LOOOOOOOOOVE Multiply!

Every year, my father-in-law comes home (to the Philippines) to spend the holidays. When the holidays are over, he goes back overseas for work. Since he hardly had the time to spend with Carlos, we decided to give him pictures of Carlos as present but the problem always has been, how could I print the pictures? Last time we did, we drained the ink from our printer. Also, I've got tons of pictures. Editing (cropping and resizing) them all will take so much time! What now?

A couple of days ago, I read a private message from Multiply! I was so ecstatic because Multiply has partnered with a local printing store, DigiPrint! YES! It's like a dream come true for me! I can now order pictures that I've uploaded to Multiply directly to DigiPrint!

Two days ago, my in-laws requested from some of our pictures. I was excited to try out ordering and found it very easy. All I did was select the pictures, set the delivery address, paid online and voila! Payment is done online (via Credit Card) and before I knew it, the pictures arrived at their house the next day! That simple!

Here are just a few of the pictures that I gave them.

I think I'm itching to place another order. I hope it won't be too soon! Hahaha!

I just love Multiply! Facebook is there, Plurk is there, Friendster, MySpace, or whatever will be there but I will never leave Multiply!

It's past 1pm. In a few hours it's break time but I doubt if any of my colleagues here will be in the mood to eat. The atmosphere is a bit lethargic, don't you think? Have you seen the sky earlier this morning? I did.

As I sit here, typing away, I'm also listening to Michael Bubl�'s albums. I made a playlist of all his songs. To be honest, it was just recently that I discovered how relaxing his music is. I especially like his version of "Wonderful Tonight" which is the song I'm listening to right now.

Talking about Michael, about a week ago, as my wife was reading the book "The Lightning Thief", I was watching Michael Bubl� Meets Madison Square Garden on our PC. I'm amazed because beneath the suits and the suave image, he's a funny guy pala. He likes to flirt with the audience and he's a very energetic performer. That's I'll be searching the net for his other concerts. My mom and dad will definitely like his music! Hahaha! Now I have an idea of what gift to give them this 2010 Christmas!

Wow! 2010 na nga pala! I haven't even said happy new year to you! SO.. here it goes: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Happy new year to you too BLOG!!! So, it's basically been 4 years of you and me, huh? And hopefully, many many more years to come...

So, how did you guys celebrate the new year? Well, this year is better for us because Carlos is not a baby anymore! He ran around the house, pointed at things, played around, jumped over the bed, did some more running, and made non-stop gibberish. I just love it when he's so playful. Christmas and New Years seems so much meaningful when he's around. I suppose every parent feels the same way.

A couple of days ago, I checked and I happen to be 145.8 pounds. Yeah, I gain or lose half a pounds on and off, but I'm not worried, its probably water weight I lost/gained. It has been like that ever since I started weighing.

My goodness! I realized that the number of colleagues/friends/officemates of mine who have seriously started working out this year have increased! Just a few hours ago, I passed by one of them and saw that he brought some whey powder and have been taking protein it (and it shows). Unfortunately I won't be taking any supplements because my doctor didn't allow me (he'd probably never allow me). A couple of them have started lifting since last month (December 2009)! It is such a shame because I haven't been lifting weights for weeks! I think it's about a month of NOT lifting. Such a shame! I think my transformation from FAT to FIT is slowly shifting back to FAT! Ha-ha-ha! Nooooooooooo!!! I won't let that happen!

Buti na lang, I had the courage to do my routine again yesterday morning. Eto, sumakit chest muscles ko (which is a good thing). It just means that my muscles have atrophied. Darn. Pero ok lang. At least, as far as I'm concerned, I'm back on track. Later, my wife and I will go to the gym and do some cardio. Tomorrow naman, I'll do the 2nd half of my split program.

It's my dad's birthday! Yeah, "Jango" or "General" as my mom calls her celebrates his 74th birthday today! I'm glad he's still very much alive and kicking. I just hope he still has many many more years. He and I may disagree on a lot of things but I love my old man. Sometimes I feel embarrassed when I talk about him because there are times when I become emotional. He really is a good guy and even more a loving and forgiving dad and husband in our family. Even though he's in the military, he's an extremely sweet man.

Haaaaay... it's 2:43 pm. 3 hours to go...Well, gotta wrap this up! Till next blog!

Christmas 2009

It's been quite a while since I last posted something. Really not much of a big deal. It's not like I have hundreds of followers on my blog. I just like to write anything and everything and after a couple of months read and reminisce what I wrote. I like the feeling. It's like submerging myself in a pensieve full of memories. Lalo na when it's about something I felt strongly about.

I will post pictures on my next blog, might even create an album for that but for now, I'll just share a few little things about my christmas.

Mom's Macaroni Salad
I love my mom's macaroni salad. I believe there's just no other salad like her's. It's pretty basic actually. Carrots, pineapples, raisins, sandwich spread, mayo, Vienna sausage tidbits, and macaroni. There isn't even onions or cheese or pickles. Pretty simple but it's the best I've ever tasted. Biased ba? Ganon talaga. I grew up with that kind of salad. It's simply the best!

Exchange Gifts
As far as I could remember, we've always had this tradition of gathering around the christmas tree and opening the gifts we have for each other. We never missed a christmas that we didn't do that. Even now that I have my own family, we still go to my parents' house and gather around the tree to open our gifts. This year, I received a lot of shirts (slim tees). I love wearing t-shirts now ever since I got rid most of my belly fat (but I'm still working on the abs tho). My wife and I didn't give each other expensive gifts now. We thought it'll be better to be thrifty and be more responsive to each others needs. We also thought it's better we save money. Saving is now our utmost priority.

Christmas Homecoming
Just like the tradition of opening the gifts, we also have this tradition of going back home in Laguna. We call it our second home because it's where my mom grew up. Almost every important event is celebrated or observed there. Christmas or All Saint's day, we go home to Laguna. It's also during those times when we get to see our cousins, aunts, and uncles, and even our distant relatives. It's always a good thing to see our relatives and have the inevitable kumustahans, chismisan, videoke, or just playing/joking around.

But this year, it's kind of different.

Memorable Christmas
A few months ago, I learned that one of my uncles got sick. I didn't think it was very serious until this christmas. After we all ate our lunches in Alaminos (Laguna), we all went to my uncle's house in San Pedro. We spent christmas there with him. We want him to feel that he is not alone and that we want to spend our christmas with him and his family. We want him to remember that we are also his family. It was very memorable. I can still remember how shocked I was when I saw him. He was very thin. He could barely eat (I heard that whenever he does he throws up almost immediately). It was only when we all left his home that we learned that he decided not to eat anything so that we all could enjoy our meals and not feel sorry for him. It pains me to see him in such a state, but we all had to be strong and we all encouraged him to be strong (it was obvious to us that us that he did a good job being tough considering what he must be feeling). I just wished I sang a song for him. He likes to hear me sing. I hope I still have a chance to do that in the future.

A Child's Playground
His name, Carlos Joaquin Martinez. He's 19 months old now. Time flies. Last christmas, he was 7 months old, could barely walk, cries a lot, and sleeps half of the time. This time, he runs all the time, is always jolly, and barely sleeps (he's bedtime is past 10pm)! Around 80% of the Christmas gifts under the tree were his. We spent half of the time opening his gifts. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining. I'm so happy everybody showed how loved my son is.

He's such a joy to have. I guess every parent feels the same. Feels like Christmas all the time.

... a new ref. Panasonic. Inverter-type fridge.

... more money. Sure, we received our 13th month, but it's all gone now. I have no bonus (sure, like Peter would do that)! In fact, I will have less than a month's salary this coming pay because of my 3 days of "FTO". What a "brilliant" idea. Yeah, that's like 3 days cut from my pay. How wonderful. What a way to end the year 2009: Less money!

... a new TV. Flat screen. LCD. At least 40". Hopefully, use the HDMI out port of our computer to watch HD content (720p movies and TV shows will be much appreciated on a bigger screen, right?)

... a new gadget. iPod nano. Or even the older shuffle model. I'd like to run more and having a portable music player sounds fantastic with running.

... a new set of earphones. Yeah, for that portable music player. Hell even for my cellphone. The ones I am using now is my wife's which I bought for her.

... a new car. An SUV or a simple and spacious family car. When we're on our trips to the mall, our cars seemed not enough. I really want this. Avanza type G looks perfect. Everest, Crosswind, even Adventure sounds delicious.

... renovations. For our house. Create more space in our bedroom. Then I want 2 more rooms. Room 1 is for Carlos, room 2 is for a new baby, and convert Carlos' old room to my personal gym. 4 rooms in total. Heck, I want the two new rooms upstairs and even make the rooms more spacious.

... a new body. It's December. I've been lazy. I've had better months of exercise and good diet. The last few weeks of November didn't work for me and the start of December hasn't been doing well for me either. I told myself I will carve a better set of abs on my bod. I wanted it to pop but I think my 12.7% BF is accelerating on it's way up. My bad. Why is exercise so hard?

My list goes on... will blog about that again. In the meantime, I need to leave. It's time for work.
